Accommodation and shops, originally accommodation for postboys. Built c.1790 by James Ingram. Painted brick on rendered plinth with hipped old tiled roof and 4 chimneystacks, 1 brick, 3 cement rendered. 2 parallel ranges. 2 storeys; 8 windows. Brick modillion eaves cornice. 1st floor has mainly original 12-pane sashes with moulded architraves, but No 3 was having a replacement window inserted at time of survey, No 2 has a C20 12-pane sash and No 5 has a C20 casement. Mainly sashes to ground floor, 2 12-pane sashes and 2 C19 sashes, one with verticals, one without. 5 doorcases with flat hoods; Nos 1, 5 and 6 have 4 panelled doors, No 3 with glazed top panels. No 1 has a C19 shopfront with pilasters, cornice and 6 large panes. No 5 has a mid C19 6-pane window with horns, pilasters and cornice and No 7 has a C19 shopfront with cornice and pilasters. Footscrapers between Nos 4 and 5 and Nos 6 and 7. No 1 has a C20 bay to side elevation and No 8 has a doorcase in the side elevation. Modern extensions to rear. These cottages originally were built to house postboys employed at the local Inns.
