GV II
Former coach house and stables now Claremont Junior School. Late C18 with C19 and C20 extensions. Brown brick with red brick and stone dressings, mansard slate roofs with ridge and end stacks. 1 storey and attic in entrance screen, 2 storeys in wings and main block of stables built around a central court. Entrance screen: 2 three bay ranges either side of central arched and pedimented gateway, brick impost mouldings and guaged bricks to arch. Round arched windows with C20 glazing bars, 3 to right and left end window lunettes. Main stable block: 7 bays with single bay wings projecting at either end, angle pilaster piers. Ashlar band to base of parapet with glazing bar sash windows under cambered heads to first floor. C20 casement windows across the ground floor. Centre three bays in projecting break with central bay projecting further under octagonal stone lantern on moulded square pedestal with iron weathervane and C19 clock face on four sides. C20 double glazed doors under flat hood to centre of ground floor. C20 extension to rear.
