CLOPTON SHOP ROAD TM 25 NW (West Side) 4/31 Shop Farmhouse - - II

Farmhouse. Late C17. Timber framed with a pantile roof. Colourwashed render. Two storeys. Two-cell plan. Entrance front: 3 bays, projecting C20 porch with hipped roof and plank door at right and 2-light window at left. Two-light C20 widows at right and left. Three 2-light windows to the first floor. Recessed and at right is a single-storey addition with a 2-light window. Recessed at left is a further addition, flush with the front which has brick walling at right and flint walling at left. Left hand gable end: 2-light window with brick quoins at ground floor level. To the centre of the gable is a brick chimneystack with offsets. Right hand gable end: also with a chimney, here battered. Rear: large C20 addition at left of 2 storeys with a flat roof. To right of this a 2-light casement.

Interior: One ground floor room has chamfered ceiling beam, wall plate with stepped stops and a blocked window of 4 lights with chamfered mullions. One further ground floor room has a ceiling beam with bar and stepped lamb's tongue end stops raised on jowled wall posts. Heavy close studding to the walls. The first floor has chamfered ceiling beams. Jowled wall posts and mortice holes indicating arched braces.
