Church. Late Cll/early C12 with early C14 and C15 and C19 additions and alterations. Flint rubble with ashlar dressings and lead roof. Nave, eastern tower (formerly central) north-eastern vestry and south-western porch. The eastern chancel is now demolished and the base of the tower serves as a chancel. Tower: east face: diagonal buttresses which die back via 4 offsets and have to their outer faces panels of flush work. Central blocked arch, formerly the chancel arch which is double-chamfered with a hood mould above which is a drip mould showing the line of the earlier roof. Inserted 3-light C19 Perpendicular window to the arch which has knapped flint walling. C20 belfry opening above this with segmental head. Brick parapet with ashlar quoins and coping to the battlements. North face: canted staircase turret to the re-entrant angle between the left hand buttress and the wall with ashlar quoins. Angle buttress at right. The tower walling has herringbone work to the middle stage and is blank at belfry level. Gargoyle below the parapet. South face: Y-tracery window to the ground floor stage, herringbone flint to the middle stage and a single- light belfry opening with 4-centered head. West face: C20 belfry opening at right similar to that on the east face. Nave: south face: projecting organ chamber at right with diagonal buttresses which die back via 2 offsets, a string course below the level of the window which is of two lights with cinquefoil heads and a dagger to the top with a hood mould and quatrefoil to the apex. To the left of this, set in walling which was largely rebuilt in the C19, is a buttress at right with 2 offsets, and to left of this a Y-tracery window of C.1300. Porch at far left restored in the C19 and having diagonal buttresses with 2 offsets. Central door surround with semi-octagonal colonettes, a chamfered arch and a hollow- chamfered outer arch in which are square flower ornaments and crowns. Hood mould above this, also with square floral bosses and ending in label stops in the form of crowned lions. Suspended shields to the spandrels. Cinquefoil-headed C19 lancets to the flanking walls. North side: C19 projecting gabled vestry at right, of Flemish bond brick with 2 bays to each flank. To left of this are 2 bays divided by C19 buttresses. The 2- light windows have Y-tracery. West end: diagonal buttresses and a central window of 4 lights with C19 Flamboyant tracery. Interior: Porch: church door with wave mouldings casement and keel mouldings, wave-moulded hood mould which has figurehead label stops, and flushwork panels to the spandrels. Nave: Perpendicular roof of 7 bays with richly moulded wall posts which terminate in C17 bosses. Arched braces rise from the wall posts to meet below the collars which are brattished and bear very short king posts. Further arched braces run longitudinally beneath the ridge beam joining the king posts and there are bosses at the intersections. Further halved arch braces run along the wall surface connecting the wall posts and have Decorated spandrels. To the choir a reading desk made up of portions of C17 woodwork, probably in the C19. Similar prie-Dieu of early C17 form with panels and Jacobean Ionic columns. Pulpit: C17 raised on octagonal stem of small brackets with dentilled cornice. Three tiers of richly decorated panels to the lower body, a panelled backboard, incorporating an earlier panel showing the arms of Catherine of Braganza, and richly moulded Octagonal tester with acorn dropped knops to the corners and centre with pediments and vine trail. Early C18 chancel rails which have fluted columns, newels and turned balusters. Piscina with ogee-headed trefoil to the south-eastern corner of the chancel.
