TM 36 NE YOXFORD HIGH STREET (east side)

10/164 The Old Vicarage 25.10.51 (Previously listed under The Street ) II House. Probably C16 core, remodelled and extended C18. Timber framed and plastered, the plasterwork lined in imitation of ashlar; plaintiled roof with crest tiles. 2 storeys and attic. The facade has sash windows with glazing bars in flush frames, 5 to ground floor, 3 to first floor; wooden eaves modillion cornice, 3 shallow-pedimented dormers, one internal stack and one external stack to north gable. Doorway to rear, re-set in mid C18 colourwashed brick extension: 6-panel door, reeded architrave, semi-circular portico on slender fluted columns and half-round pilasters, reeded frieze, modillion cornice; flight of 4 steps up to door. To right hand side of doorway a semi- circular headed staircase window. South gable of house with full-height splayed bay: between the windows on this gable are re-used bands of pargetting, added early C20.
