Details

ALDERTON (Off) HOLLESLEY ROAD TM 34 SW (East Side) 10/3 Cedar farmhouse G.V. II Farmhouse. Mid C18. Red Flemish bond brick with a plain tile roof. Two storeys. Entrance front: 3 bays near-symmetrically disposed, projecting plinth, (common to whole building) which dies back, via an offset. Central doorway with moulded surround of wood and with a C19 plank door. To either side at ground floor level are 3-light casement windows with chamfered heads. Projecting band between the floors of 3 bricks depth. Two lateral 3-light casement windows to the first floor. Blank window to the centre above the doorway. Hipped roof with a central renewed axial chimney stack having 3 flues. Right hand side: slightly cambered head above which is a 3-light ground floor casement window and above this a blocked first floor window. Left hand side: 2 shoring buttresses set at either side of the blocked ground floor window and a blocked first floor window. Rear: projecting gabled wing at right with pigeon loft to the first floor and to left of this a C20 outshut.
