Late C16 with mid C19 front and modern wing on left, accommodating the
Seckford Library. A stone with the initials WAB and date 1809 indicates
that William Alleyne Barker added a flint and red brick wing at rear
when he occupied it as Headmaster of the Grammar School, which was
accommodated here from 1662 to 1864. 2 storey and lower ground floor.
Timber framed and plastered, except front and wing, overhanging 1st
floor on right hand end. Traces of old carved bressumar and other
timbers remain, but the interior generally has been modernised.
Front 4 windows and 3 blank panels. Sash windows, at 1st floor,
with glazing bars. Tile roof, slate eaves courses. Wood pedimented
Doric doorcase. NMR photo.
