2 shops with storage above, formerly a house. Late C16/early
C17 with an early C19 front. Timber-framed and rendered; slate
roof with a paired modillion eaves cornice. 3 window range:
small-paned sashes in flush cased frames. 2 C20 shop fronts on
the ground storey.
INTERIOR: No.25 has a fine ornate original late C16/early C17
plaster ceiling on the 1st storey in good condition: heavily
moulded panels have pendant bosses with acanthus-leaf
decoration at their intersections and fleur-de-lys, sprays of
oak leaves and vines in low relief within them. 2
wall-paintings dated to c1610 were found on a chimney-breast
in 1956. One was restored and resited within the building
until its removal during extensive work on the interior in the
1980s.
