1/7 The Old House
II
House. C15 and later. One storey and attics: now a 3-cell lobby entrance form. Timber-framed and rendered; thatched roof; internal chimney-stack with plain shaft. C20 casement windows; one gabled dormer. Frame in 4 bays: the bay at the east end is a C18 extension. The 2 central bays show evidence of having been an open hall : on the upper storey the remains of 2 long 5-light diamond-mullioned windows, that on the rear wall with mullions in situ. The original end tie-beam has been cut through to give access to the C18 addition. Rafter roof. The original timbers are very light-weight and include coppice- wood. The ceiling to the central ground storey room is a C17 insertion.
