SD 81 SE ROCHDALE SHAWFIELD LANE (north side) 6/105 Fisherfield 25.10.1951 Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Dated on lintel "IH: 1692" (J Heyward). Dressed stone with stone slate roof and brick chimney stacks. Two- unit house; 2-storey with aisle to rear. Stone plinth, stone quoins and slightly pointed lintel with inscription, over a chamfered doorway. Ground floor has 4-light window to left and 6-light to right with double chamfered mullions and hoodmould with dropped spiral stops. Upper floor has, from left to right 4-light, 2-light (formerly 3-light), 3-light and 2-light mullioned windows, all flush except the third which is recessed. The rear elevation has a 2-light and 3- light window as well as four small 1-light openings with semi-circular heads. Interior: chamfered beams run longitudinally in the ground floor. Aisle-posts with flared jowels support the arcade plate and have curved bracing. One heavily moulded beam exists in the upper floor (possibly re-used) below the main tie beam.
