1708/21/10002 Orangery at Lockinge Stables
GV II
Orangery. Circa 1730. Red and blue brick in English bond, the front header bond vitrefied bricks with red brick dressings. Clay plain tile roof with corbelled brick eaves course, two-span but valley covered over with flat roof. Rectangular on plan. Symmetrical 7-bay front with tall segmental arch windows with C20 window frames. Round arch doorway on right [E] side. At rear a large doorway at centre with concrete lintel and sliding doors. INTERIOR: Walls plastered. Large chamfered tie-beams supporting 2-span collar trusses, the valley now roof over, but wooden valley gutter retained; the inner facing pitches were once glazed.
