GISLEHAM - TM 58 NW 3 kilns and 2 chimney stacks 3/10001 at former Gisleham Brick and Pipeworks

3 pipe and brick kilns and their 2 chimney stacks. Circa 1934. English bond brick walls and header bond brick domes without mortar, the drum walls and necks held together by steel bands with spring-headed bolts for tightening. Circular on plan. The drum walls have round arch doorways on the west sides and 2 tiers of round arch draught vents. The two chimney stacks, also English bond brick with steel bands, square on plan and of 2 stages. Opened in 1934, the Gisleham Brick and Pipeworks, owned by Mr Easey, produced about 50,000 drainage pipes per week. Source: Lowestoft Record Office.
