MENDLESHAM FRONT STREET (south side) TM 16 NW 7/45 No.1 (Old Tiles) & No.3 29.7.55 (Beecholme) (formerly listed as Beecholme)

GV II 2 houses. In 2 main sections: a slightly lower corner block to left of C15 or early C16; main range is C16. No.3 has large mid C20 rear additions. Timber framed and rendered, the main block with a wooden modillion eaves cornice. Plaintiled roof, hipped to right. 2 storeys, attic to right. C18 casement windows with square-leaded glass, some of it old. No.1 has early C19 doorway: fluted architrave with corner squares and segmental head; 6-panel door. Doorway to No.3 has eared architrave, frieze and dentilled pedimented cornice; the door has 6 flush panels. Stack has heavy axial shaft, partly of sawtooth form, with a C19 sawtooth cap. To right of No.3 is a wall of colourwashed brick with C20 2-centre arched doorway. Interior. Corner block has very heavy plain joists with evidence for former jetty to Front Street. Remainder of No.1 considerably modernised. Early C19 upper fireplace has moulded surround with corner squares. Interior of No.3 not examined.
