COTTON MENDLESHAM ROAD TM 06 NE 2/19 Southolme & Rose Cottage -

-- II Originally one house, now 2. Early C17. Timber framed and plastered, roof of clay plaintiles. 3-cell form. 2 storeys. 4'windows, late C19 4-paned sashes. One gabled dormer. Rose Cottage has a 6-panel door (upper 2 panels glazed) and enclosed gabled porch with decorative bargeboards. Southolme has a semi-glazed 4-panel door. Internal stack and gable stack to left, both with C19 shafts. One-storey lean-to on right gable end. Interior. Rose Cottage comprises parlour cell and hall chamber. Upper rooms show papered-over studding. Joists in parlour cell are concealed; oak joists (set flat) in hall chamber. C19 newel stair. Timbers in Southolme said to be entirely concealed.
