Details
DEBENHAM GRACE CHURCH STREET TM 16 SE 6/77 No.33 - GV II
House, at one time the Joiners Arms inn. C16, renovated c.1972. Timber framed, smooth rendered, pantiled roof. 2-cell, end chimney type. 2 storeys. Mid C20 casement windows with diamond-leaded panes. Cross-entry has mid C20 door. Stacks against each gable end, the original to the left. One-storey lean-to against left gable end. Interior. Largely intact 4-bay frame. Plain joists in both cells, those in hall partly cut away for a mid C20 stair. Evidence for axial division in service cell. Service partition has one original 4-centre arched doorway, the other concealed but said to remain. A further narrower C16 doorway in the service partition is not original. Good open fireplace. On upper floor, a blocked gable end window with diamond mullions. Hall chamber has low tie beam with cranked braces. Wind-braced side purlin roof, mostly concealed.
