Details

HOXNE GREEN STREET TM 17 NE 7/86 The Firs GV II House. C18 or earlier core, much altered mid-late C19. Double-pile plan. Timber framed and plastered. Front roof slope slated, the slates laid diagonally; remainder of roof is pantiled. Roof has large overhang at gable ends. 3 windows, large tripartite casements, with wooden hoodmoulds over those on the ground floor. Lobby entrance: mid C19 plastered gabled porch, 6- panelled door with 3-centre arched head. White brick stack with 3 square shafts set diamondwise. Canted 2-storey bay to left gable end. Front range has many re-used timbers, with straight primary braces. The 2 ground floor rooms have small on-edge joists together with some re-used ones set flat. Included for group value.
