Details

HOXNE LOW STREET (east side) TM 17 NE 7/108 No.16 ( formerly listed 29.7.55 as No.16, No.17) GV II House, latterly 2 cottages. Early C18. Some mid C20 reconstruction. Timber framed and plastered with a pantiled roof. 2 storeys with attic to front range. 2 windows, C19 small-paned casements. C19 4-panel door to left; to right a doorway with fluted architrave, old 6-panel raised and fielded door and 3-light rectangular fanlight. Cellar entrance against road frontage. Internal stack, placed at the junction of the front and rear sections. The front range may once have extended further north, for it now comprises just a single ground floor room. Thin studding with straight primary braces, much on the ground floor rebuilt mid C20. Small square joists throughout. Roof over front range has 2 rows of stepped butt purlins and a ridge piece, all in oak. Newel stairs.
