Vicarage Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. C16, in 2 phases to form a 3-cell house. C18 dairy wing to rear.
Timber framed and plastered. Thatched roof to main range, the dairy wing
pantiled. 2 storeys. 3 windows, mid C20 large-paned metal casements. Lobby
entrance with mid C20 door. Internal stack to each range. The frame is in 5
bays. The 2 left hand bays are probably a different phase and comprise the
present stack (one bay) and parlour cell. The parlour bridging beam is only
c.1m from the chimneybreast, suggesting the stack is an insertion. Hall has
substantial plain joists and blocked cross-entry doorways. Parlour chamber
has reverse-curved corner bracing. Service end of house much altered by
insertion of large mid C20 stair. Roofspace not fully examined.
