8/69 - The Grange (formerly listed as Vicarage) 9/12/55
GV II
Former rectory, early C17 with alterations of C19 and mid C20. 2 storeys and attics. Timber-framed and plastered. The main range has a slated roof, the rear range plaintiled (concrete plaintiles to west slope). An axial chimney of early C17 red brick, the upper shaft rebuilt C19/C20. A further axial chimney to rear of C18/C19 red brick. Mainly C20 casements; some mid C19 sashes with large panes. C20 glazed entrance door within slated lean-to porch. The C17 house faced east towards the church; its main range was truncated and rebuilt as a service wing in C18. At the south end towards the road is a parlour cross-wing whcih was extended eastwards in mid C20. A fragment of a C17 staircase balustrade; the lower section is a C20 reconstruction. Framing almost entirely concealed.
