BURGATE MELLIS ROAD (EAST SIDE) TM 07 NE 1/16 Glebe Farm House - -- II

House, formerly Rectory. Late C16 or early C17, reduced in size, raised and altered c.1830 when it ceased to be the Rectory. Timber frame, extended in clay lump. Plastered. Shallow pitch to slate roof. Originally at least 3 cells extending further to right. 2 storeys. 4 window front. Entrance to left of centre with half glazed, half fielded panelled door, traceried rectangular fanlight, pilastered doorcase. Flanking 3:3 pane architraved sashes, elsewhere 1, 2 and 4-light glazing bar casements, all with C19 timber hoodmoulds. Boxed eaves. Left end original massive external stack, rendered with triple offsets, rebuilt cap, an entrance behind stack. Internal rebuilt ridge stack to right, gable end pentice board. Continuous lean-to addition to rear with three 3-light glazing bar casements. Interior: stop chamfered axial binding beam, some exposed close studding with a cranked brace, arched brace from jowled post to tie beam.
