9/55 The Old Bakery -
GV II
House, at one time the parish workhouse. A C16 2-cell range with C17 rear wing and C18 addition to left. Timber framed, roughcast-rendered at front, plastered at rear. Pantiled roof, with mid C20 concrete pantiles to rear. 2 storeys. C18-C19 small-paned casement windows. C20 canted shop window. C16 range has central axial stack. 2-bay C18 addition extending the house as far as the guildhall (q.v.); the end bay has a carriageway at ground floor level. C16 range has plain ground floor ceilings, partly exposed studding with reversed bracing and evidence for original windows.
