YAXLEY IPSWICH ROAD (EAST SIDE) TM 17 SW 3/149 Lyon House - GV II
House, latterly the Red Lion Inn. Early C17, raised, extended and altered mid C19. Timber frame, plastered and roughcast. Hipped black glazed pantiled roof. An L on plan, 3 cell early range to left, C19 front range. 2 storeys and attics. Roughcast facade with a central entrance; half glazed, half panelled door, reeded architrave with flat hood, flanking and first floor 3- light small pane, part opening, timber and metal moulded frame casements, ground floor hoodboards. Boxed eaves. Internal right end axial stack. Attached to right gable end a 1 storey C19 outbuilding with a similar 3-light casement. Left return to earlier bays has similar casements with a small 12 pane sash on ground floor to front, an entrance between centre and front bays with a C19 6 panelled door. Rebuilt cross axial ridge stack towards rear, an added ridge stack towards front. Attached to rear a weatherboarded 1 storey outbuilding. To rear a lean-to outshut from early range. Interior: stop chamfered axial binding beams, chamfered mid-rail, a 2-light diamond mullioned window opening, first floor arched braces to tie beams removed, frame largely concealed.
