HALL STREET 1. 5377 (East Side) Long Melford Chestnut House (formerly listed as The Chestnuts) TL 8645 21/461 23.3.61. II GV
2. A C18 timber-framed and plastered house built on an L shaped plan. Refaced in the late C18 or early C19 in grey gault brick, with a plain parapet and a modillion cornice which returns some way on the north and south ends. 2 storeys. 5 window range, double-hung sashes with glazing bars, in plain reveals. The centre part, of 3 window range, breaks forward slightly. A 6-panel door with the upper 4 panels glazed has a doorcase with panelled reveals, a semi-circular ornamental fanlight (blocked), plain Tuscan columns and an open pediment. Roof tiled, hipped behind the parapet.
