Details
SU 17 SE OGBOURNE ST ANDREW A345 (west side) 7/44 Tresco House II Vicarage, now flats, 1848-9 by William Butterfield. Brick, tile hung to front elevation and tiled roof. Domestic revival style. Elevation asymmetrical with large right gable, smaller central gable and external offsetting brick stack on left. Central boarded door with segmental head in slightly outset lean-to buttressed porch, all tile hung. Offsetting stack to right, and end of roof extending down to meet outbuilding parallel to road. Second steeply pitched and tiled outbuilding, altered C20, encloses yard on north side. One dormer to road, one at rear. This is Butterfield's third essay and an important early example of the style pioneered by Butterfield, Street and Webb.
