Details
BRADING SZ6087 MALL ROAD 1352-0/7/93 1-2 18/01/67 The Manse and Marsh Coombe Formerly Listed as : Ainsworth No 1-2 II
House pair. C1790 in castellated Gothick style, extended mid C19. Roman cement with roof renewed in modern asbestos fishscale tiles. Not quite symmetrical. 2 storeys, 7 windows. Castellated parapet, moulded cornice and stringcourses. Centre has 2 curved bays of 2 windows each on both floors. windows have dripmoulding over and Gothic glazing. Recessed wings at each end. Marsh Coombe has 4-centred arched doorway with modern door and renewed circular windows over. The Manse has 4-centred arched door in side of recessed section with mask corbels, gable end with chimneystack and 6-panelled door with Gothic heads to upper panels, This was probably the original doorway resited when the building was extended in the mid C19. a print of c1830 shows the original plan before the mid C19 alterations.
