2/175 Pickersdane Farmhouse

GV II

House. Mid C16 extended mid C20. Timber framed and tile hung, with some render and weather boarding to rear. Extended with red brick. Plain tiled roof. Four framed bay cross passage plan. Two storeys on high base, with end jetty to right (road front). Hipped roof with gablets and stack to left, and to end left of projecting 2 storey hipped C20 wing. Two wooden casements on 1st floor and 1 on ground floor with boarded door. Right return with sash on 1st floor, and 2 wooden casements on ground floor. Rear elevation with partial catslide outshot. Interior: large stack originally with chalk block base. Embattled dais beam and wave and bead- moulded ceiling beams. Hall window with ovolo and cyma mouldings and rebate for glass. Sans purlin roof with high ceiling (to collar) for hall chamber (ceiling lowered C17. (See Traditional Kent Buildings No. 5, 21-25).
