Details
MEREVALE MEREVALE PARK SP29NE 1/138 Rose Cottages - II 2 cottages. Probably 1840s by Henry Clutton. Sandstone rubble with quoins of rough-faced ashlar. Slate roof has coped gable parapets with moulded kneelers and blind slit windows; stone lateral stacks. H-plan with central 2-storey porch. 2 storeys; 5 bays. Porch has offsets to sides between ground and first floors. Chamfered segmental-pointed arched doorway; late C20 half-glazed door. Crest in relief above. First floor has blind slit window. Double-chamfered mullioned windows have painted iron lattice glazing with margin bars. Left and right bays have single lights with transom. 2-light first floor windows with sill course continued round as a moulded surround. Gabled wings have cross windows. Return sides have lateral stacks with slit window in base and blind slit above, moulded string course and 4 chamfered square shafts under single cornice. Interiors not inspected.
