ROWINGTON GREAT PINLEY SP26NW 4/80 Remains of Priory Church 11/04/67 approx. 10m E of Pinley Abbey (Formerly listed as Remains of Priory Church (now partly stables)) GV II* Remains of Priory Church, now workshop and stables. Probably C14, with later rebuilding and alterations. Coursed squared stone, with some C19 brickwork; old plain-tile roof. Single-storey, 4-bay range with single bay forming cross-wing. Irregular fenestration. Stable doors to north and south ends. Interior: Tudor -arched blocked doorway to ground floor. History: the Cistercian Priory of Pinley was founded by Henry I and dissolved by Henry VIII. (Buildings of England: Warwickshire: 1966, p372; VCH: Warwickshire: Vol.3: 1945, pp148-149) [ 81]
