88 memorials. Mid and late C17 and early C18. Carved and moulded ironstone. They
include a chest tomb. Late C17/early C18. Fielded panels. 2 headstones approx.
5m. north of transept. Left: 1684. Winged head and drapery panel. Right: late
C17/early C18. Scrolled pediment with winged head, and festoon. Large high
relief moulded panel. Row of 3 headstones approx. 9m. north. Left: 1718(?).
Segmental top has small central cartouche with winged putti supporters. Large
cartouche with trumpeting putti, skulls and cross bones, and crossed spades,
picks and bones. Centre: early C18. Moulded segmental top with scrolled ends.
Winged head and large foliage scroll cartouche. Right: 1690. Central skull, 2
winged heads and double swag, fielded panel and flanking skull and cross bones.
Row of 5 headstones approx. 12m. north of chancel. They include: left: early
C18. Winged head and large, very high relief cartouche. Centre: late (:17/early
C18. Straight top has segmental pediment with winged head. Swag and winged
heads. Fluted Ionic pilasters and moulded panel. Fourth: late C17. Scrolled
pediment with winged head. Shaped moulded panel. Headstone approx. 10m. north of
chancel: 1677. Scrolled top with central oval. Sunk panel, with flanking drapery
and volutes. Headstone approx. 15m. north of chancel: 1712. Segmental pediment
with winged head, flanked by tulips. Entablature has central shell and leaf
scrolls. Moulded panel and fluted Ionic pilasters. Inscription to William
Yardley. Row of 3 headstones approx. 2m. north of chancel north-east corner.
Early C18. Similar designs have moulded segmental top, winged head and foliage,
shaped sunk panel and volutes. Central headstone has inscription to Robert
Ladbrooke. Row of 4 headstones approx. 15m. north of chancel north-east corner.
Left: early/mid C18. Two heads and drapery forming shaped cartouche, with skull
at base. 2 central headstones: late C17. Similar designs: segmental pediment
with winged head and flanking tulips. Shell and foliage. Fluted Ionic pilasters
and sunk panel. The remaining memorials are not of special architectural
interest.
