Details
CHIRTON CONOCK SU 05 NE 3/56 Stables at Conock Manor 19.3.62 GV II Stables. Mid-late C18. Brick with tiled roofs. Central block of 2 storeys with wings containing high stables and lofts over, and tack rooms at ends. Central block raised, with stone raking and horizontal cornices, and attic supporting Tuscan colonnade. Copper clad cupola and windvane, renewed c.1965. Clock of 1864 by Joyce of Whitchurch, with 2 faces of c.1930. Bell of 1765 by Wells of Aldbourne. Facade facing house has four blind windows with 2- centred heads and stone hood mouldings. Archway through central block. End bays have 4-centred carriage doors to rear elevation. Oak framed windows to upper floor with C20 metal casements. Stone dentilled eaves. Internal windows to clockroom with iron leaded windows. Interior has timber shaped stable divisions, and chequered block floor.
