Details
URCHFONT HIGH STREET SU 0457 (west side) 11/231 Wheelwrights GV II Cottage. Mid C18. Greensand, faced with diaper brickwork, with raised limestone quoins, all on greensand sills. Thatched roof. Two storeys and cellar, 3 bays comprising narrow stair hall bay at centre, kitchen to right and parlour to left. Two storey C20 extension to rear. Central early C19 6-panelled door with wide moulded stone frame and flat canopy on cut brackets. Plat band. Two-light paned casement windows replaced on ground floor with three-light casement in C19. Roof half hipped to left, gable stack to right. Original brick rear wing on right converted to C20 extension. Interior parlour on left has angle fireplace on rear wall, chamfered spine beam with ogee stops and early C19 fluted fireplace, reset from kitchen end. Open brick fireplace to kitchen with timber lintel. Roof of three bays, cambered collars and single tier of butt purlins.
