Durley Gate House
II
Ailesbury Estate House, mid C19. Red brick in header bond, with bold all-over yellow brick diaper and quoining. Roof has bands of plain and rounded tiles. North front approximately symmetrical, with wide central porch, single storey and gabled. Cross wings at ends with half hipped gables. Entrance has round arch and boarded door. Paired paned sash windows to right gable, triple similar windows to upper floor of left gable. Between, two gabled dormers. All gables have open cusped barge boards. Heavy stacks of banded brick, outset at heads. Stack lateral to left wing. To right, similar wing forms gable to road, and copied by C20 wing without diapering.
