CHUTE CHUTE STANDEN SU 35 SW 10/76 South Lodge 20.8.81 II
Cottage. C16 or earlier, and C17. Timber framed, colourwashed flint facing to front. Thatched roof. Single storey, cellar and attic, 3 bays, with entrance opposite stack in left bay and second entrance in thatched porch between bays 2 and 3. Central bay, originally an open hall, said to have circular open hearth below existing floor, and roof timbers smoke blackened. Inner room, now subdivided has cellar. Service room behind stack now kitchen. Framing has corner braces and cambered ties. Boarded doors and timber casement windows. C20 extension to rear. Interior has reserved ovolo moulding to spine beam in living room, and chamfered fire beam on rebuilt brick piers. Clasped purlin roof.
