Details
WESTBURY ALFRED STREET 1. 5411 (South-West Side) No 8 (Old Alfred House) and No 10 ST 8751 NW 3/104 II GV 2. Originally one house with No 10A altered. Part C16, mostly C17 with late C18 or early C19 alterations. 2 storeys. Brick. 'L' plan block, range facing north rendered. Steep pitch double purlin pantile roof rear of No 8 tiled. No 8: 2 ranges of windows, coupled to right hand side, sashes with glazing bars in upper sashes. Central pedimented door piece with dentil edge mouldings. Pilasters terminate in fluting with brackets to pediment, soffit of which has guilloche ornament. 6 panel door. Lower half-hipped extension to right.
No 10: Interlocks with No 10A and has 'L' plan. Range facing West has 2 windows on each floor, with glazing bars in upper sashes, moulded frames, 3 with stone lintels, irregularly placed. Paired windows on North gable end. Pedimented door piece similar to No 8 on range facing North. 3 light mullion casement over (part of No 10A), 6 panel door, upper 4 glazed. The interior of the range facing West has on ground floor the remains of a fine C16 ceiling with 2 beams and cross beam, all very heavily moulded.
