Details

CODFORD WARMINSTER ROAD ST 94 SE (north side) 4/77 Milepost at south entrance to the Hillside Cafe GV II Milepost. Circa 1840. Cast-iron classical pillar with pedimented top and raised lettering to front: SALISBURY / 15 / WARMINSTER / 6, the lower half sunk into ground at time of survey (March 1987). One of a series of cast iron mileposts and boundary posts on turnpikes radiating from Warminster and made by Carson and Miller the Warminster firm of ironfounders. (R. Haynes, Milestone in Wiltshire, Leisure in Wiltshire, 1968)
