Details
CHURCH SQUARE 1. 5377 Bures St Mary Maynscroft and Maynscroft Cottage TL 9034 26/83 II GV
2. A C17 timber-framed building largely refronted in the C18. Maynscroft has exposed timber-framing with C20 brick nogging on the ground storey. A modern lintel is inscribed:- "1608 restored 1921". Maynscroft Cottage was refaced in the C18, the south part of the house has C20 brick and the north part has C18 brick. The house was renovated in 1974. 2 storeys. Maynescroft has 2 window range on the west front and 1 window range on the east, C20 casements in C17 style with lattice leaded lights. The ground storey has old style shop windows on the west front. The house adjoining has 3 window range, double-hung sashes with glazing bars, in shallow reveals. The centre window on the 1st storey is 2-light. Roofs tiled, with a gambrel roof at the south end.
