Details
TM 14 SW WASHBROOK THE STREET 2/36 Chaloners Cottage, (formerly known as Old Georgian House ) II House. C17 core, refaced late C18. Timber framed, encased in Flemish bond brickwork with flared headers, plaintile roof. Two cell lobby entry plan. 2 storeys, 3 symmetrical bays. Central reeded doorcase beneath flat shallow canopy. Panelled reveals and soffits, the lowest panel on each side reeded with rosettes at the angles. Door of 6 recessed panels. Timber cross casement beneath cambered brick arch to left and right, that to left C20. Three first floor timber cross casements, replaced C20. Plain brick band at storey level central cross axial brick stack. Rear wall and outshut timber framed. Some frame visible in left hand gable wall. Lambs tongue stops to beams to right, those to left encased or replaced. Stairs to rear of stack are replaced. Probably a butt purlin roof.
