Details
RAYDON THE STREET TM 03 NW and TM 03 NE (West Side) 3/33 and 4/33 The Post Office and - adjoining premises - II House and Post Office. Probable late C15 - early C16 core with later additions and alterations. Timber-framed, rendered, with red brick stacks. Concrete tile roof. One storey and attic 3-cell plan, right section being an addition, and extensions to rear not of special interest. Central section originally open to roof. C20 shop front to right. Two C20 casements and two flat topped dormers with C20 casements. Stack off-centre to right and external stack to left gable end, upper parts of both rebuilt. Steeply-pitched swept roof. Interior: centre bay chamfer-stopped beam and exposed joists. Inglenook to end room at left with arched chamfer-stopped bressumer. Sections of wall studding exposed. Smoke-blackened common rafter roof to centre bay reinforced with C20 softwood to support concrete tiles.
