Details
LAVENHAM MARKET PLACE 1. 5377 (north-east side) No 18 (Angel Hotel) TL 9149 50/609 23.1.58 II* 2. Originally a C15 timber-framed and plastered building with cross wings at the north-west and south-east ends but the north-west cross wing now forms part of the property Nos 16 and 17. The cross wings were originally jettied on the upper storey but the building was refronted in the C13 and the ground storeys underbuilt. Roof tiled. Two storeys. Four window ranee on the south-west front and 5 window range on the south-east front, of double-hung sashes with glazing bars. A wing extends to the north-east with part of the upper storey jettied at the north-east end. The interior has good features including a C16 plaster ceiling on the upper storey and earlier wall paintings.
