Details

LAVENHAN HIGH STREET 1. 5377 (west side) Nos 39 and 39A (formerly listed as Nos 39, 40 and 41) TL 9149 50/565 23.1.58 II GV 2. This building was formerly an inn probably of C16 origin but altered on the front in the C18. Two storeys. Timber-framed and plastered with pebbledashed panels with rustications on the front. Roof tiled, with a dentilled and modillion eaves cornice. Six window range of 3-light bar and transom windows on the upper storey. The ground storey has 2 splayed bays, one large one with 33 panes and 2 doorways under a slate roofed canopy with another splayed bay and a modern doorway at the north end. The smaller bays have double-hung sashes with glazing bars. There is a cart entrance at the north end.
