Details
KERSEY 1. 5377 Priory Chapel (remains) TL 9944 57/423 23.1.58 II 2. Probably the remains of the conventual church, restored and preserved as a farm building. Part of the west end and nave. The Priory is said to have been founded as a hospital about 1218 by Thomas de Burgh, and a few years later converted to a Priory for Austin Canons. Dedicated to God, St Mary and the Blessed St Anthony. Endowed by Nesta de Cokefield, widow of the founder. (Scheduled Ancient Monument).
