2/187 2/5/53 Throwley Hall GV II

Farmhouse. Early C19. Stucco lined as aahlar; hipped slate roof oversailing the eaves; ashlar integral end stacks. Aligned north- west/south-east facing south-west and rear wing aligned north-east/ south-west incorporating stables. 2 storeys; 3 bays, glazing bar sashes with horns; central 6-panelled door with rectangular overlight, Tuscan porch with ball finials. North-west front: main house to right, rear wing to left. Main house: 2 bays, glazing bar sashes with horns; single storey porch to left with ball finials and reused C16 windows from Throwley Old Hall (q.v.) to the sides. Rear wing: coursed and squared limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings; hipped plain tile roof. 2 storeys; 2 bays, chamfer mullioned windows to first floor, the left hand window has 3 lights, the right hand window has 2 lights; 2 stable doors to centre, inserted window to left, inserted garage door to right. Throwley Hall is part of a picturesque grouping of buildings including Throwley Old Hall (q.v.) and Throwley Barracks (q.v.).
