IPSTONES C.P. - SK 05 SW 6/170 Terrace garden walls - to south-west of Sharpecliffe Hall
GV II
Terrace garden walls. Late C19. Coursed and dressed stone; 3 tiers of terraces earth with approximately 100m front and retained by walls of approximately 14m height. Wall closest to house has deep pitched copings, remainder flat. Each wall is broken in the centre (running up to the side of the entrance front to the hall) by a flight of steps, solid balustraded and with ball finials to the highest terrace which also has steps at each end with ball finials to piers. Forms an impressive and romantic garden layout to Sharpecliffe Hall (q.v.). Included for group value.
