5/121 Church of St. Mary 12/1/66 GV II
Former parish church, now chapel-of-ease. C16 chancel; the rest rebuilt 1775. Red brick with ashlar dressings; plain tile roof with coped verges. Gothic style 3-bay nave with south porch, and 2-bay chancel. Nave: Pointed windows with lead latticework; pointed west window with decorative glazing bars, small round-headed window to gable and open gabled belfry to apex; gabled porch with pointed entrance arch to pointed south door, coped verges on shaped kneelers and finial to apex, blind circular panel above porch. Chancel: South side has 2-light hollow chamfered mullion window to right with rebated frame, small round-headed window to left and central Tudor arch door; north side has 2-light hollow chamfered mullion window to right; East window of 3 segment-headed lights under a straight hood mould. Interior: Chancel roof has arch braced cambered tie beam with later king post above; early C19 wooden pulpit with lancet panels and colonettes. B.O.E. p.137.
