History
North Walsham is a medieval market town that grew wealthy from the trade of wool and cloth. The town was largely rebuilt following a fire in 1600 but remained a significant market centre into the Industrial Revolution.
Number 28 Market Place likely dates to the mid C19, and is located on Market Place, one of the earliest roads developed in North Walsham. It was recorded as a house and shop in the 1842 tithe apportionment. The shop front of 28B was altered in the late C20, and alterations have taken place through the late C20 and early C21 to alter the interiors of the buildings and create residential flats.
