II

Former farmhouse, now public house. Mid-C17, 3-bay, central chimney house refronted in late C18 with late-C17 outshut to rear and C19 crosswing to east. Timber-framed, refronted in red brick with grey headers to ground floor and tile-hung above. Plaintiled roof with off-central chimneystack to left, projecting crosswing of one bay to east. Two storeys and attics in gable end; 4 windows. C20 triple casements, ground floor windows have cambered heads. C20 gabled porch. Three large, tiled C20 gables to rear elevation. Interior has central bay with axial beam with run out stop and wooden bressumer. Room to west was originally the parlour and retains a cambered wooden fireplace and adjoining plank-door with L-hinge concealing winder staircase. The first mention of this building is in the Hearth Tax Records for 1664.
