Church Farm House

Farmhouse now house. C15 or early C16 origins, mainly mid C18 and C19. Regular
coursed and squared coursed limestone with Collyweston slate roof. Original
plan indeterminate now double depth. 2 storeys. Main front is 3-window range.
Central 4-panel door under wood lintel. Three-light sash windows also under wood
lintels. Brick stacks at ends. Side elevations are twin gable ends of parallel
gabled roofs. Interior: entrance hall has staircase with stick balustrade,
reconstructed mid C20. Kitchen, to rear left, has open fireplace with high
bressumer. Room to rear right has open fireplace with bressumer and moulded
spine beam, probably reset. Arch-head recess to left wall of fireplace and
squint in rear wall. Cloakroom to rear of entrance hall has late medieval
doorway, now blocked, with chamfered wooden surround and 4-centred arch head.
Evidence of similar doorway, alongside, above kitchen doorway. Included for
group value.
