FINEDON CHURCH HILL SP9171 (West side) 7/13 Lych gate and attached walls 09/06/70 approx. 30m. E of Church of St. Mary the Virgin (Formerly listed as wall adjoining Hampton Cell on the south-east and linking it to Thingdon Cottage)
GV II
Lych gate. Dated 1888. Squared coursed ironstone and timber with fish-scale tile roof. Stone plinth supporting an open timber frame with 4-certred arches and gabled roof. Churchyard elevation has inscription. "This lych gate was dedicated to the glory of God Ann Domini 1888". Attached walls to left and right, part enclosing garden ta Hampton Cell (q.v.). Probably C18, ironstone, with ashlar copings. Included for group value.
