THORPE MANDEVILLE MAIN STREET SP54SW (West side) 7/234 Row of 2 headstones 1m. E of chancel of Church of St. John the Baptist

GV II

Row of 3 headstones. C17 and early C18. Ironstone. Headstone to left has rectangular inscription plaque with moulded frame surmounted by deeply carved swags of flowers fruit and winged cherub's head. Inscription to John (?) died 1686. Central headstone has square inscription plaque framed by twisted columns and draperies and surmounted by cherubs head. Inscription to Alice the wife of John Ilife, died 1690. Headstone to right has inscription plaque in form of open book surmounted by scrolls and a head. Commemorates Anne and John Ilife, died 1717 and 1726.
