ACKLINGTON BANK HOUSE NU 20 NW 3/14 Dairy at Bank House Farm, to south-east of main farmbuilding complex 31.12.69 (formerly listed as former Creamery at Bank House Farm) II

Dairy, late C19. Close-jointed tooled stone with tooled-and-margined ashlar dressings; cast iron verandah; Welsh slate roof with lead-capped timber louvre. Rectangular plan of 2 rooms, surrounded by a 6 x 4 bay verandah. Plinth, raised quoins. 2 flush-panelled doors near centre, flanked by 4-pane sash windows; all openings in raised alternating-block surrounds. Verandah on octagonal columns with moulded bases and rings, with curved braces and rings in spandrels, carrying hipped roof. Louvre, with slatted sides and pyramid cap, at left. Lateral stack at right end, rising through roofslope, stepped-and-corniced with paired shafts. One similar window on left return and two to rear.

Interior: East room is dairy with elaborate Minton-tiled floor, marble-topped central table and marble shelves. West room has fireplace with old grate.

At time of survey recently vandalised and most slates removed from roof.
